How to Pack Up & Maintain Your Solstice Inflatable Gear

From inflatable docks and paddle boards to kayaks and Pup Planks, your Solstice gear is built for adventure on the water. To keep it performing season after season, it’s important to follow the right steps for cleaning, deflating, and storing inflatable products. With a little care, your setup will stay fresh, safe, and ready whenever you are.

Cleaning & Prep Before Storage

1. Rinse Thoroughly

After every use, rinse your inflatable with fresh water to remove salt, sand, algae, and dirt. Be sure to flush seams, valves, and fin boxes where debris collects.

2. Mild Soap Wash

For deeper cleaning, use a gentle soap or PVC cleaner with a soft sponge or brush. Skip bleach or harsh chemicals, which can weaken PVC materials.

3. Dry Completely

Allow your Solstice inflatable to air-dry fully before packing it away. This prevents mold and mildew from developing when folded or stored. Use a towel to catch extra moisture around seams, valves, and hardware.

Inflation vs. Deflation: The Right Way to Store

·         Partially Inflated: If you have space, storing items like inflatable docks, SUPs, or kayaks partially inflated helps relieve seam stress while avoiding sharp folds.

·         Fully Deflated & Rolled: If storage space is limited, roll or fold your inflatable loosely. Always start from the nose and roll toward the valve to push out remaining air.

o   Pro Tip: Our pumps with deflation mode make this process easier by removing every last bit of air for a compact roll.

Storage Conditions

·         Temperature: Store in a cool, dry environment between 40–85°F (5–30°C). Avoid attics, car trunks, dock boxes, or freezing spaces that can weaken seams.

·         Light: Keep gear out of direct sunlight. UV exposure breaks down materials over time. A storage bag or protective cover adds an extra layer of defense.

·         Environment: Choose shaded, ventilated, dry spaces over damp basements or sheds.

Hardware, Accessories & Replacements

·         Fins: Remove before rolling or storing to avoid bending or cracking.

·         Valves: Check that valves are clean and free from debris.

·         Straps & Bungees: Rinse, inspect for wear, and let dry completely.

·         Storage Bags: If you need extras, our carry bags and storage accessories keep everything organized and protected.

·         Replacement Parts: From fins to valves, having spare components ensures your inflatable is always ready for use. Explore our replacement parts and accessories to keep your setup complete.

Final Tip: Make Next Season Easy

Taking a few extra minutes to properly rinse, dry, deflate, and store your Solstice inflatables means they’ll be ready to go the moment you are. A little care now ensures your docks, kayaks, SUPs, and Pup Planks will deliver the same fun and performance year after year.
